Natural Compost Fertilizer
Healthy plants start with healthy soil.
In many parts of Zanzibar, productive soil is limited. Large areas are rocky and naturally contain only a thin layer of fertile ground. Moving soil from one place to another may solve a short-term problem — but often creates a new one somewhere else.
That is one of the reasons why we decided to produce our own compost fertilizer.
We collect organic matter and transform it into a stable, nutrient-rich growing medium through a slow and natural composting process. To enrich the compost, we carefully mix in chicken manure and allow the material to mature for more than a year.
During this time, the compost is regularly turned to improve aeration and support an even decomposition process. Time, oxygen and natural biological activity gradually transform raw organic material into a dark, rich and stable fertilizer.
The result is a ready-to-use compost that improves soil structure, supports water retention and helps create conditions where plants can establish stronger roots.
